Are there any plans to provide upgrades to Pages with more functionality like MS Word, such as templates?

Obviously Pages does not have the functionality the MS Word has. Are there any plans to provide Pages with similiar functionality such as creating forms/templates?

Well, maybe I am using the wrong terminology, but what I am refering to is the ability to create a document that provides check boxes, text boxes (expandable) and pull down menus to complete the form. Maybe I assumed that when I took a MS Word document with this capability, and opened it in Pages, Pages did not convert any of this capability.

Pages is not a Word clone, and it has never been an Apple design goal to compete with Word's 33 years of feature additions. As this is a user to user support community, there is no way that we can know Apple's future product planning.

Pages does not have any forms controls, and for that you want the free LibreOffice (Writer) suite, an Office replacement suite, or Word itself. The LibreOffice Writer User Guide has an entire chapter 15 devoted to making forms.

I appreciate your response. I certainly do not expect Pages to compete with Word directly. I was simply wondering if this template/form development capability is something that may be coming. It is a tool used by many and I believe it is a capabiltity that would be appreciated by the Mac community. I have taken your advice and I am downloading LibreOffice Writer. Thanks for your help.
